New Appointment for Phumelele Makelo

The Three Cities Group delights in welcoming Phumelele Makelo back as the newest member to join the sales team, in the role of Government Sales Executive for the Three Cities Group.

Phumelele, who rejoined the team on 7 April 2010 will be responsible for calling on all Government Departments. Having worked for the Three Cities Group in the past Phumelele said “I am extremely excited to be back as part of the team once again.”

Whilst fulfilling the position as Government Sales Executive Phumelele hopes to bring in an exceptional amount of business to the group from the government sector.

The Three Cities Group is excited to have Phumelele back on the team and wishes her the best of luck for the busy year ahead.

New appointment for the new Square Boutique Hotel & Spa

The Three Cities Group recently announced Bronwyn Mcleod as the newly appointed General Manager of The Square Boutique Hotel & Spa, the Umhlanga based hotel set to open in May.

Joining the hotel from the 1 on 1 Event Centre, Bronwyn brings with her extensive experience in the industry, which she will use in the opening and running of this highly anticipated new property.
When asked how she feels about working at The Square Boutique Hotel & Spa Bronwyn said “I am very excited and honoured to be involved in this incredibly special property.”

A Star amongst our midst

On 12 March was graduation day in Cape Town for some of the HIS students. What a great event and seeing the youngsters having achieved their goal. A particular proud moment for Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa was the TWO awards Jolene Mayer received.

1) Traineeship Academic Achievement Award in Hospitality Management, Summa Cum Laude.
2) Three Cities Group Chief Operating Officers Award for Excellence, National Trainee of the year 2009.

Jolene joined us at the beginning of her HR specialization in July 2009. Once that was completed we realised her great potential and immediately offered her a position. She is now the HR & OPS administrator for the Hotel.

New General Manager for 1 On 1 Event Centre

The team at 1 on 1 Event Centre are delighted to welcome Barbara Smith to the renowned Durban based conference centre. Barbara joins the 1 on 1 Event Centre as General Manager, bringing with her extensive experience in the hospitality industry.

Over the past few years Barbara has worked under Three Cities Management, where she has acquired diverse skills in different departments whilst completing different business programmes to equip her in a General Manager position.

The Three Cities Group is thrilled to have given Barbara this new challenge and wishes her luck on her new journey at 1 on 1 Event Centre.

The Three Cities Group is delighted to welcome Shaun Landing as Group Sales Director.
Joining the group from One & Only Cape Town where he was previously employed as Sales and Marketing Director.

Shaun studied a Degree in Business Management has been in the industry for 20 years, and today is even more passionate about the industry than when he first embarked on his career .

Shaun welcomes this exciting opportunity going forward, acknowledging the importance of his new position at this critical time in the industry. When asked about his feelings towards the 2010 World Cup Shaun says “This is an exceptional way to show case the warmth of our country and its people to the world.”

Having joined the group in December, Shaun is well on his way to achieving the highest results within his global sales teams and the Three Cities Group.

Three Cities welcomes Shaun into his new position, and wishes him and his team the best of luck going forward into the adventure of 2010!

Newly appointed Group Sales Director Shaun Landing has absolutely no hesitation in welcoming the influx of travellers into South Africa for the 2010 World Cup, referring to the opportunity as an exceptional way to show case the warmth of our country and its people to the world.
The enthusiasm that Shaun exudes has certainly rubbed off on his team members, who all share his feeling towards this highly publicised event. The hotels within the Three Cities portfolio are working around the clock to ensure that they are ready to offer only the best in accommodation and services, with the sales teams standing by to fill the rooms.
Shaun who studied Business Management has been in the industry for 20 years and has no plans to slow down, when asked what makes him passionate about the industry Shaun says
“The ability to make dreams come true” Shaun joined the Three Cities Group as Sales Director from
One & Only Cape Town.
Shaun and his team of International representatives, Regional Sales Managers and Sales Representatives are on their way to a very successful 2010. All teams are positive that they will exceed their set targets. Hard work and enthusiasm certainly goes a long way!

Joanne Joins Cape Sales Team

Joanne Fredericks joins the Three Cities, Cape Town sales team as Regional Sales Manager.

Joanne who joined the group in December from the Southern Sun Sales Department has
20 outstanding years of experience in the industry. Joanne brings a strong sense of commitment and passion for her chosen career, as well as a vast array of knowledge of the industry and skills required to succeed in her new position.

When asked what her thoughts and feelings are towards the 2010 World Cup, Joanne response positively by saying “It is an incredibly exciting time for the country, as it gives us the opportunity to leave a legacy of a top tourism destination for years to come.”

The Three Cities Group are thrilled to have Joanne as the new Western Cape Sales Manager and wish her and her team a successful 2010, in which they are sure to reach new heights!

The Three Cities Group welcomes Andrew Merrill onto the team as the new General Manager of the Royal Palm Hotel based in Umhlanga. Andrew brings with him both international and local experience, having worked in the hospitality industry for the last 14 years. Andrew studied Hotel Management at what used to be called the ML Sultan Technikon and over the years has built up a worthy reputation within the industry. With great talent and mastered skills within the industry Andrew is set to be a true asset to the team.

New Team Member for TCG Sales Team

Lester Cary newest member to join the Johannesburg Three Cities sales team
Lester Cary is the newest member to join the Johannesburg Three Cities sales team. With 15 years in corporate sales and a qualified Project Manager Lester is the perfect choice to fill the position, offering a new dimension to the sales team. Lester will be spending his first few days at Head Office learning about the Three Cities culture and portfolio as well as visiting selected properties within KZN. On completion Lester will be responsible for servicing selected corporate and retail clients in Gauteng.
